Continued from Part I: Cereals…

Let me share the methodology, all the data through this series of ‘Food we Consume’, only focusses on production of a agro product(s). These products are classified into broad category of 1. Cereals 2. Oil Crops 3. Roots and Tubers 4. Fruits and vegetables 5. Legumes and Nuts.

Today, we will focus on two group II Roots & Tuber (1. Potato 2. Sweet Potato 3. Cassava) & III Legumes & Nuts (4. Soya bean 5. Bean 6. Cashew and 7.Pea).

Based on the historical production data of base year 1961 versus 2018, we have calculated ‘Indexed Production’, which essentially explains us momentum of the growth of production for some of the countries captured in data, for a respective agri product. Further, in graphs we will also observe an interesting contrast in some scenarios/products, wherein actual production toppers in 2018, being outwitted by fast growing producers in indexed production. Idea behind this distinction, is to understand underlying trends prevalent in agriculture, as well as decipher factors helping production flourish.

NOTE: Yugoslavia has disintegrated into various countries hence it has been part of base year, but Nil production in 2018.

Based on the data above presenting some self explanatory graphs:

II. Roots & Tuber

## One of the Agriproduct were Africa dominates the production as well as indexed production.

III. Legumes & Nuts

##Pea is good source for alternative protein, features highly on research for vegan oriented food products.

Stay tuned next we will cover ‘Fruits’ alongwith ‘Oil Crops’… Cheers.
